Two Sides to Every (Love) Story

Sarah and Adam got in touch with us through Old Orchard Inn, as they were planning their wedding from out of province. They were in Nova Scotia over the winter holidays and came for a consultation with us. They had a very unique vision for their wedding cake, wanting it to reflect a lot of themselves. They love both the look of a traditional white on white wedding cake, but also love the rustic look complete with flowers and an antiqued finish to the fondant. So we were able to incorporate both. 🙂

The white piping on the traditional side of this cake was also specific to Sarah and Adam. Music is a big part of both of their lives, so the piping was musically inspired.

The rustic side of the cake included flowers that were in Sarah’s bouquet- roses and calla lilies with touches of green and purple. We added accents of gold on both the cake and the flowers as well, giving it a rich, old world feel.

We then brought the two sides of this love story together with draped gum paste, keeping a very romantic theme to the cake.

The cakes inside were also different and yet tied together- two tiers each of Decadent Chocolate cake and Vanilla Bean pound cake, with all four tiers filled with Vanilla Bean buttercream and Salted Caramel. The bride and groom made delicious choices, considering they hadn’t even been able to have a tasting beforehand because of the last minute consultation!

Congratulations, Adam and Sarah! 🙂

We received this email a couple of weeks later:

Hi Anna,

I wanted to let you know how unbelievably amazing our wedding cake was. It was gorgeous, it was delicious, and it was perfect. Our photographer – who has done dozens of weddings as a photographer and DJ and even as a guest, said it was the best wedding cake he’d ever had. We had 55 guests, and the cake did not last the week even though it was meant for 80 people. We didn’t get plates or forks – just went to town with our fingers and LOVED it. Our families were so impressed, they went to work the next week and told everyone about our amazing wedding cake from this mother-daughter couple out of Centreville.

Thank you soooo much for being a part of our special day and for making it that much more delicious 🙂

We will be in touch for an anniversary cake!! And birthday cakes, and easter cakes, and just-because cakes…

Take care,

Sarah & Adam

Update: One year later, and Sarah and Adam are writing The Next Chapter in their love story. Congratulations again to you both!! 🙂
