How much will my cake cost?
Our prices are as individual as our clients. We do have a base price for a round 3-tier fondant-covered cake of $350. Final prices are dependent upon a variety of factors including size, style, decor, and sometimes specialty flavours. We will give you a quote after we know these factors. With wedding cakes, you will receive a quote within 2 weeks after your consultation.

Do you deliver and how much is it?
We do charge a delivery fee, which differs according to location and whether setup is required onsite.

Do you provide cake toppers or stands?
We have a limited number of toppers and stands. These require a deposit, and can be discussed according to needs, or at your consultation.

We often use a stainless steel support system, called a Cake Stacker, in our cakes. If we use one in yours, we do require a $100 deposit, which is refundable upon the return of the Cake Stacker the week following your event.

Can I freeze the top tier of my wedding cake?
You certainly can. A denser cake (such as our Decadent Chocolate Cake) will freeze very well and will taste just as good as it did the day of your wedding. A fondant covered cake also freezes well, as the fondant gives an extra layer of protection. To prepare your cake for freezing, you must wrap it tightly in at least two layers of plastic wrap, then place it in a freezer bag or airtight container. Do not use only aluminum foil, as this will cause your cake to freezer burn. To thaw your cake, simply place in refrigerator overnight. Then, enjoy!

What is the difference between fondant, buttercream and gum paste?
Fondant is a thin, hard icing that is rolled out and draped over the cake. It gives your cake a beautiful, smooth finish, and can be tinted almost any colour. It also makes a great canvas for our hand painted cakes. Classic fondant is usually a little bland, but we make our own marshmallow fondant that actually tastes good. Fondant can be used to form certain decorations such as swags, simple flowers and leaves, as well as sculpted figures. Our fondant covered cakes are first frosted with buttercream, so the fondant will adhere properly to the cake.
Buttercream is richer and is generally more flavourful than fondant. It has a fluffy appearance and is easily piped. it can also be tinted just about any colour and can be many delicious flavours. There are a variety of recipes that can be used to make buttercream, including some that contain meringue. Because buttercream is softer, there can be a risk of melting on very hot days.
Gum paste is very pliable, similar to modelling clay, and for this reason we use it to form most of our flowers, leaves, etc. It can be tinted any colour, and it dries hard and is fairly durable, although somewhat susceptible to humidity. It is edible, although it doesn’t have much flavour and is generally used in conjunction with floral wire or another inedible material for support, so gum paste usually isn’t eaten. (Although kids and adults alike find it hard to resist biting into the very realistic flowers!)

How much cake will I need?
Although we will discuss this at your consultation, you can check Wilton’s cake cutting guide to get an idea of how much cake you will need.
On average, wedding cake is served in 1″ x 2″ slices. If you want to serve larger slices, you will of course need to account for that in your cake order.
