Amanda came to us with an idea for her parents 40th anniversary. She wanted us to recreate her parents wedding cake. Sort of. 😉
We were given a picture of their wedding cake (which you can click on below) which was a square tiered cake, complete with the white pillars between the tiers and the piped swags, characteristic of the cakes of the ’70’s. So we updated it a bit. We covered the two tier square cake in fondant and added fondant swags, to give it a clean, modern finish with a vintage feel. We piped double pearls at the base of the tiers and as accents, and dusted the cake with edible pearl dust, to give the swags a satin look. We topped the cake off with the original cake topper, which was a small white vase, which we filled with fresh red roses, the “bride’s” favourite.
Both tiers of the cake were Decadent Chocolate, filled with Chocolate Ganache and frosted with Chocolate Buttercream, to satisfy a fellow chocoholic, Marlene, the bride of 40 years. 🙂
Bill & Marlene’s kids pulled off the surprise celebration without a hitch, and we were happy to be able to revisit an original wedding cake, adding our own touch! Thanks!
Happy 40th, Bill & Marlene!
